Esports Camps

 

Blizzard Builders Winter Camp (12/29-31 from 9AM-12PM)

When school’s out for winter break, Blizzard Builders offers a fun, productive way to play! This three-day, half-day program combines Minecraft creativity, Nintendo favorites, and hands-on maker projects that build problem-solving, teamwork, and digital skills all in a supportive, supervised setting. Space is limited!

Rec Minecrafters!

 

Join our local Minecraft server and help build our community? literally! Middle school students enrolled in our youth esports program can expect weekly challenges and fun activities for individuals and small teams to compete for prizes. Perfect for students with an interest in gaming and creativity. Come make your mark in the world of Minecraft! Practices will be held at the Rodney Park Community Center on Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays from 4:30 – 5:30 PM. This program will have players focus on games that utilize survival mechanics while practicing our “4 T’s” of esports skills – Tactical, Technical. Theatrical, and Three-D Design. The Rec Esports Minecrafters is designed for students of grades 6-8 and may require students to create their own accounts during participation.

 

 

 

 

 

Rec FPS Team!

 

Learn to play games like Valorant, Overwatch, Fortnite, and Marvel Rivals with weekly coaching, personalized training, and regular team practices! Record your gameplay, edit highlights, and dive into the exciting world of team-based gaming. This youth esports program is for high schoolers eager to level up their skills and work as part of a competitive team by reviewing gameplay. Practices will be held at the Rodney Park Community Center on Mondays & Tuesdays from 5:45 – 7:15. This program will have players focus on games that utilize FPS mechanics while practicing our “4 T’s” of esports skills – Tactical, Technical. Theatrical, and Three-D Design. The Rec Esports FPS Team is designed for students of grades 9-12 and may require students to create their own accounts (for Valorant and Fortnite) during participation.

 

 

 

 

Family Game Night!

Fridays 5:45-7:15
(Open to 10+ with a registered parent or guardian) ($5/Session/Member)

Join us for a night of fun that will include digital party games and activities! Expect PC games, virtual reality gaming experiences, and console challenges every week. This is a family-focused weekly activity held every Friday night. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration will be per attendee – Each participant needs to have a session package redeemed upon entry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

Game On – Survival!

 
For adults ready to test their gaming mettle! Each week will feature different horror/survival game titles, from PC to Switch to Oculus Quest 2, with a focus on esports skills, strategy, teamwork, and survival challenges. Whether you’re revisiting old favorites or trying something new, Game On offers the perfect mix of fun and competition in a group setting.

Expect horror titles and opportunities to work with other players! Take your gaming to the next level, and make some new friends while you’re at it. All skill levels are welcome.
 

 

 

 


 

Meet Sean Kennedy – Director of Esports

Sean Kennedy joins Lancaster Rec as the Esports Director and Systems Administrator, bringing a wealth of experience in both education and competitive gaming. Originally from Philadelphia, he moved to Lancaster where he spent over a decade teaching a variety of STEM-focused classes, from Pre-AP Biology to Advanced Technology.

With a passion for esports, Sean has successfully led an esports organization from its inception to national competitions, demonstrating his expertise in game strategy and team leadership. Sean has developed innovative esports programming centered on the 4 Ts of esports practice: Tactical Skills, Technical Skills, Theatrical Skills, and Three-D Skills, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to player development. After a decade of working in the esports community he has brought his passion to your local community center – Lancaster Rec!

Rodney Park Community Center – Lancaster Rec’s Esports Center

If you’re interested in learning how to join an esports team or community, then you’ve come to the right place! The Lancaster gaming community is alive and well; we have daily adult & youth esports programs, biweekly competitive gaming tournaments, live events and more happening at our esports center. Come experience PC, console, & virtual reality (VR headsets) gaming right here in Lancaster, PA! We also have 3D printers and other “maker” tools you are welcome to use to unlock your creativity while you’re here.

 

Our esports lab is found right inside of the Rodney Park Community Center building. Below you’ll find directions from our main location on Fairview Avenue to the esports center found at 14 Rodney Street. Activities are held daily, and building rentals are also now available.
